Fleet Admiral Chester William Nimitz signed a typewritten letter dated October 8, 1945 and an autographed photograph of which the letter conveys being sent to the Radford School (El Paso, Texas). Signing both “C. W. Nimitz.” . Botrh these pieces where signed just a littem more than 4 weeks after the Commander in Chief US Pacific Fleet during World War II, signed the Formal Surrender of Japan as US representative on board the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945.
Letter measures 7.25 X 10.125, photograph 7 X 10, both with tape residue on verso along the top and bottom margins from once being framed. Good condition.
