Napoleon Bonaparte Document Signed "Bonaparte". One page, partially printed, 8.75" x 13.75", 1797. A large engraving of a fanciful Minerva (or personification of France) dominates the top half of this official document. Since Bonaparte is here titled as General and First Consul of the Republic, the item pre-dates his 1804 coronation as Emperor. A large, exceedingly bold and desirable signature of one of history's most famous military leaders. Overall fine condition. Accompanied with an engraving of a young Napoleon.
Napoleon Bonaparte(15 August 1769 – 5 May 1821), was a Corsican-born French military commander and political leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution and led successful campaigns during the Revolutionary Wars. He was the de facto leader of the French Republic as First Consul from 1799 to 1804, then Emperor of the French from 1804 until 1814, and again in 1815. Napoleon's political and cultural legacy endures to this day, as a highly celebrated and controversial leader. He initiated many liberal reforms that have persisted in society, and is considered one of the greatest military commanders in history. His campaigns are still studied at military academies worldwide.
