KING KONG 1933 RKO STUDIOS ORIGINAL STATUE AWARD PRESENTED TO WALTER ELLIOTT FOR SOUND EFFECTS. Walter Elliott came up with many of the effects for this classic, one of his best sound effects for the film was to create Kongs chest beating sound. Elliott created this by taping a mike to his back and actually beating his chest, this became that actual sound used in the film for these scenes, like when Kong was on top of the empire state building. The statue is made of wood and stands almost 8 inches tall , it is 3 inches wide at the base. Walter Elliott would later win an Academy Award for his work in the film "Mad,Mad World" EXTREMELY UNIQUE AND CERTAINLY RARE! Produced in 1933 the film "King Kong" is considered to be one of the most GROUND BREAKING films of all time. And is generally considered to be one of the 50 greatest films ever made. The Classic was well recieved at the box office but was snubbed by the Academy Awards. RKO studios answer to that was to present these awards to those who contributed to the completion of the film, Sound effects director Elliott being one of them. The silver presentation plaque attached to the front reads "SOUND EFFECTS KING KONG, R.K.O. STUDIOS 1933, WALTER ELLIOTT" Any vintage items from the production of the film go for signifigant sums, some items like one of the original small armatures used for Kong recently sold for over $200,000.
