STRAVINSKY, IGOR. Typed Letter Signed, in red ink with a short note in the bottom left of the letter sent to him. An interesting letter from May 6, 1964, Lanai Road Elementary on Los Angeles Schools Stationary to Igor Stravinsky. The letter goes into how the children are learning about music and all of the famous composers with the theme unit ending in June with a composer of World Wide significance, Igor Stravinsky. It is asking him if he would be available for a speech, which he writes in red at the bottom of the letter “unfortunately impossible because I will be abroad. IStravinsky May 20/64”
Igor Stravinsky (17 June 1882 – 6 April 1971) was a Russian composer, conductor, and pianist with citizenship in France (from 1934) and the United States (from 1945). He is widely considered one of the most important and influential composers of the 20th century and a pivotal figure in modernist music for his approach to asymmetrical rhythm.
