27th president of the U.S., 10th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. DS, undated. A Certificate of Membership in the University Club of the City of Washington, D.C., 11 x 8 ½”, w/gold seal. Taft signed this blank certificate as president of the club. Taft became the first president of the club in 1904 when he was serving as Secretary of War.
