A collection of 15 autographs of cabnet members a few of the recent ones could be autopen or secretarial. Lovett, Robert A. – Signed card, and b/w photo (4 x 5)dated September 11, 1967. Lovett was U.S. Secretary of Defense under President Truman (1951-1953. In 1960 he became the first executive from outside the Ford family to become president of the Ford Motor Company. He served as U.S. Secretary of Defense for JFK and Lyndon Johnson (1961-1968) and played a major role in escalating U.S. military involvement in the Vietnam War. McNamara, Robert S. – Signed FDC (May 29, 1964) honoring President John F. Kennedy under whom McNamara served as Secretary of Defense. Also, TLS (7.5 x 9.5) on letterhead of President of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, dated August 22, 1968. Meredith, Edwin T. – TLS (7 x 9) on letterhead of Secretary of Agriculture, dated February 5, 1920, In part “Calling a cabinet officer by his first name is not enough in my case. I want in the first place to see you do it often and in the second place find an excuse soon to come east, drop off in Washington and give me the pleasure of a visit with you.” Mitchell, James P. – SP b/w Inscribed (8 x 10) “To Florence and Arthur Strecker with warmest regards from their friend.” Mitchell, nicknamed “the social conscience of the Republican Party,” served as U.S. Secretary of Labor under President Eisenhower. Volpe, John A. –TLS on letterhead of the Governor of Massachusetts, dated July 17, 1967. U.S. Secretary of Transportation from 1969 to 1973 and U.S. Ambassador to Italy from 1973 to 1977. Morgenthau, Jr., Henry – TLS(6 x 7) on personal letterhead, dated April 8, 1931. Letter addressed to George Foster Peabody, prominent American banker and philanthropist. Morgenthau was U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under Presidents FDR and 10 Truman (1934-1945). He played a major role in designing and financing the New Deal and financing U.S. participation in World War II. New, Harry S. – SC (2.5 x 3.75) bearing printed inscription: “The Postmaster General.” New was a journalist and Republican politician. He served as a U.S. Senator and as Postmaster General under Presidents Harding and Coolidge (1923-1929). O’Brien, Lawrence – Signed b/w photo (8 x 10). O’Brien served as a top advisor to JFK and was appointed Postmaster General of the U.S. by Lyndon Johnson and served in that post from 1965 to 1968. In 1975 he became Commissioner of the National Basketball Association and held that post until 1984. Rusk, Dean – TLS (7 x 9) on letterhead of the Secretary of State, dated August 1, 1968. and Signed b/w photo (4x6), Signed card (3 x 5) bearing the printed inscription“Secretary of State. Sherman, John – SC (2.75 x 4.25) “John Sherman, Ohio, May 24/98.” Sherman was a Republican politician from Ohio best known as the principal author of the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890. He served as Secretary of the Treasury (1877-1881) and Secretary of State (1897-1898). Also, includes a signature cut from a letter and mounted on a card (3.5 x 4.5). Udall, Stewart – Signed b/w photo (4 x 5). Udall served as U.S. Secretary of the Interior under Presidents Kennedy and Johnson (1961-1968). Vilas, William F. – SC (2.5 x 4.5) bearing the printed inscription: “Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary and a blank card signed Wm F. Vilas, Madison, Wis.” Freeman served in two cabinet positions under President Grover Cleveland – Postmaster General (1885-1888) and Secretary of the Interior (1888-1889. Weaver, Robert C. –TLS (7 x 9) on letterhead of the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), dated August 30, 1968. Thank you letter, Weaver was the first African-American to be appointed to a 14 cabinet level position. He was appointed by Lyndon Johnson and served in that post form 1966 to 1968 Weeks, John W. – Signed, typed letter (8 x 10) on letterhead of the War Department, dated August 16, 1923 and signed card. Letter of thanks the publisher of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer for sending him a poem. Weeks was U.S. Secretary of War from 1921 to 1925. Work, Hubert – Signed card (1.75 x 3.25) with printed inscription: “The Secretary of the Interior.” Work was U.S. Postmaster General under President Warren Harding (1922-1923) and Secretary of the Interior under President Calvin Coolidge (1923-
