Fine autograph letter signed “Theodore Roosevelt”, one page on Sagamore Hill stationery, dated January 22, 1910. Roosevelt writes to General Leonard Wood, introducing his friend Mr. James Breeze (Princeton ’97) and vouching for his character:
“Dear Leonard,
This will introduce to you one of my friends, Mr. James Breeze (Princeton, ’97). He is a very good fellow, whom you can entirely trust. May I ask you to put him in the way of getting the information he desires?
Always yours,
Theodore Roosevelt.”
An exceptional example of Roosevelt’s post-presidential correspondence, revealing his ongoing influence and enduring camaraderie with General Wood. Letters between these two Rough Rider legends are scarce and historically important, reflecting the trust and personal warmth that defined their relationship.
Beautifully framed alongside two complementary period pieces: a vivid color lithograph titled “Plucky Riders,” depicting Colonel Theodore Roosevelt and General Leonard Wood in their Rough Rider uniforms, and an 1898 stereoview photograph featuring Major General Wheeler, Colonel Wood, Lieutenant Colonel Roosevelt, and other officers during the Spanish-American War campaign in Cuba.
Letter measures 4.25" x 8.25" and the overall framed presentation measures 17" x 21". Light overall toning and minor folds; bold ink signature.
