Group relating to the arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald, the assassin of President John F. Kennedy. Includes:
Signed photograph, 3.5" x 5", showing Dallas Police Officer M. N. “Nick” McDonald holding Oswald’s .38 revolver. Boldly signed and inscribed in black marker: “Officer M. Nick McDonald – Captor of Oswald – 11-22-63.”
Two-page signed typescript statement, each sheet 8.5" x 11", in which McDonald narrates in dramatic detail his confrontation with Oswald inside the Texas Theatre on November 22, 1963. On the first page, McDonald signs at the heading, and on the second page, he signs and inscribes: “Officer M. Nick McDonald – Captor of Oswald – 11-22-63.” The narrative recounts how Oswald attempted to fire his revolver during the struggle: “I could feel the hammer glide under my hand, as he pulled the trigger… Somehow, the miracle of my strength retarded the action of the hammer. The bullet beneath the firing pin did not fire.” McDonald describes wrestling the pistol away and subduing Oswald, concluding with his triumphant call to fellow officers: “I’ve got him!”
Both are in fine condition.
