Photograph inscribed and signed: "All The Best/To Al Abrams -/Rube/Goldberg/ October 9th, 1967". B/w, , 8x10. Reuben Lucius Goldberg (1883-1970), an engineer turned cartoonist, created the popular Professor Lucifer Butts, famous for his inventions of mechanical contrivances of absurdly unnecessary complexity as well as a comic strip featuring Boob McNutt, a young man whose interest in other people often got him into trouble (syndicated by Hearst from 1918-1933). He was awarded the 1948 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning for a work entitled "Peace Today". Surface striations. Lightly creased and worn. Photographer's stamp on verso (no show through).
