Autograph quotation signed by Lydia Maria Child, an influential 19th-century American abolitionist, women’s rights advocate, and author. The neatly penned quote reads:

“As no individual can monopolize sunshine or water, so no nation or sect can appropriate to itself God’s love or God’s truth.”

Boldly signed beneath, “L. Maria Child.” on a slip measuring approximately 3” x 5”. A moving sentiment reflecting Child’s deep humanitarian and spiritual convictions. In fine condition, with light toning consistent with age.

Child (1802–1880) was a pioneering voice for abolition and social reform, whose works included “An Appeal in Favor of That Class of Americans Called Africans” (1833), the first anti-slavery book published in the United States.
