Signed book: The Vantage Point. First edition. NY: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1971. Hardcover with dust jacket, 6.5 x 9.5, 636 pages. Signed and inscribed on a free end page in fountain pen, "Lyndon B. Johnson," and signed and inscribed in black ink below, "For Richard and Grace Adams—with much appreciation of your generous part in the creation of the LBJ Memorial Grove—and grateful memories of this special day, Lady Bird Johnson, May 2, 1976." In fine condition, with a crease to the front dust jacket flap, and light paperclip impression to the front of the dust jacket. Accompanied by a typed note from Lady Bird, dated May 2, 1976, in part: "Some years ago Lyndon put his hand to a few of these books, and I have been saving them for a special occasion. None could be more meaningful to me than this 'Last Round-up' benefit for the Memorial Grove, and because of your generous part in it, I wanted you to have one." Also includes a deerskin bookmark from the LBJ Ranch, impressed with an image of the ranch and a facsimile signature of Lady Bird Johnson.
Lyndon B. Johnson (August 27, 1908 – January 22, 1973), often referred to by his initials LBJ, was an American politician who served as the 36th president of the United States from 1963 to 1969. He became president after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, under whom he had served as vice president from 1961 to 1963. A Democrat from Texas, Johnson also served as a U.S. representative and senator.
Lady Bird" Johnson (December 22, 1912 – July 11, 2007) was the first lady of the United States from 1963 to 1969 as the wife of President Lyndon B. Johnson. She served as the second lady from 1961 to 1963 when her husband was vice president.
