Robert Fulton, American steamboat inventor. Important A.D.S., 1 full page, oblong narrow 16mo, N.Y., Jan. 8, 1812. Sixty days' promissory note to Robert R. Livingston on verso. Usual cancelation slashes and expertly skilled on verso, else very fine, penned in jet black ink. Livingston, through his financial and technical aid, had made Fulton's steamboat experiment and success possible.

Livingston's political influence enabled Fulton to secure, from N.Y. State, a monopoly on steamboat navigation. This very note constitutes the second substantial repayment to Livingston for his financial aid and is a document that embodies the history of the development of the steamboat. Tiny hole and a light spot, else choice.

With One of a Kind Collectibles LOA.
