Nixon & Spiro Agnew collection Invitation for the inauguration of Nixon as president and Agnew as vice president on January 20, 1969, 8.25 x 10.75, signed at the bottom in black felt tip by Nixon and blue ballpoint by Agnew. The invitation also bears an affixed postage stamp with an inauguration day cancellation at the top. Mild creases and light overall toning, otherwise fine condition Souvenir typescript excerpted from Nixon’s resignation announcement on August 8, 1974, one page, 6 x 9.5, signed in black felt tip. In full: “Throughout the long and difficult period of Watergate, I have felt it was my duty to persevere, to make every possible effort to complete the term of office to which you elected me. In the past few days, however, it has become evident to me that I no longer have a strong enough political base in the Congress to justify continuing that effort. Therefore, I shall resign the Presidency effective at noon tomorrow.” In fine condition. A [Cartoon/Political] Wayne Howell. “The Loyal Opposition.” Original colored pencil drawing. Shows a police wagon pulled by two horses. The suspect being arrested and the police are shown as clown-like. Richard Nixon is shown driving the wagon while raising 2 fingers on both hands. 19 ¾ x 25 ¾ in Also included is a Nixon and Agnew bumper sticker a ribbon and pin form the 1973 Inauguration.
