She pursued legal claims to land inherited from him and other relatives in New York State.

"The Committee have not convened--If it should meet, it would be under the influence pf so much impatience that the members will take the shortest way to get rid of the subject-- I therefore incline to the opinion that rather than hazard such a result, it would be expedient to desire the chairman to report that owing to the lateness of the time at which the matter had been submitted to them, they had not been able to bestow sufficient attention to the subject to enable them to form a satisfactory opinion and recommend that it lay over till the next session--- Shall I do this? A. Burr"

Aaron Burr was an American politician and lawyer. A Founding Father, he served as the third vice president of the United States during President Thomas Jefferson's first term from 1801 to 1805. His role in helping form the nation, however, would be overshadowed when he killed fellow Founding Father Alexander Hamilton in an 1804 duel and when charges of treason were brought against him in 1807.
