Rare vintage original AP Wire Photo from May 1957 of Martin Luther King. This photo shows the Rev. Robert S. Graetz, pastor of Trinity Luthern Church, and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., coming out of an elevator at the court house where the bombing trial in Montgomery on May 28, 1957. The backs are turned to them while the enter to testify. A Rev. Abernathy church and home were bombed as well as the home of Graetz, who has an all-black congregation. A wave of bombings took place after full integration on buses that resulted from the 13-month Montgomery Bus Boycott. It states that a” white attorney charged in court that Montgomery Negro Leaders, rather than white men where responsible for the bombings of their church.” Photo 6”x8” in fine condition. Rare form this early period.
