Lodge, Henry Cabot- Signed, typed letter (8 x 10) on U.S. Senate letterhead, dated January 18, 1894, accompanied with 2 signatures. The letter was written to Rev. G. L. Shearer and regrets that he cannot accept Shearer’s invitation to address the Presbyterian Union of New York on Feb. 26th . Lodge was a Republican U.S. Senator from Massachusetts (1893-1924).
Lodge II, Henry Cabot – Signed, typed letter (7 x 9) on letterhead of Ambassador at Large, dated July 17, 1967, and additional clipped signature. Letter written to a gentleman seeking Lodge’s autograph. Lodge had a long and distinguished career as a politician and diplomat. He was U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. (1953-1960); U.S. Senator from Massachusetts (1937-1944 and 1947-1953); U.S. Ambassador to South Vietnam (1965-1967) and U.S. Ambassador to Germany (1968-1969). He was the Republican nominee for Vice President in the 1960 election.
