Ray Bolger Signed Actors Equity Contract Dated February, 19th, 1936 for a play called "On Your Toes". The play was written by Richard Rodgers and he originally wanted Astaire for the role, but Astaire thought that the ballet background in the plot was too "highbrow" for his audiences. Ray Bolger was given the role, which allowed him to rise to stardom.This role was factor in his signing the agreement later the same year to do a movie called "Wizard Of Oz".
