This is a collection of 14 Letters and signatures of prominent cabinet members of US Presidents. a few of the more recent autographs could be autopen. Acheson, Dean – TLS (7.25 x 10.5) on personal stationery, dated July 30, 1968. Acheson was U.S. Secretary of State 1949-1953 Letter declines an invitation to speak. Chandler, William E. – Signed commemorative card (3.25 x 4.25) memorializing the vote in the New Hampshire legislature by which Chandler was elected as U.S. Senator from NH on January 15, 1895. He served as Secretary of the Navy from 1882 to 1885. Clark, Ramsey – Signed b/w photo (8 x 10) inscribed “for Ronald Knight with best wishes, Ramsey Clark.” and TLS(7 x 9) on letterhead of the office of the Attorney General, dated August 23, 1968.Clark held top positions in the U.S. Justice Department under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson and served as Attorney General from 1967-1969 Clifford, Clark M. – TLS (7 x 9.5) on letterhead of The Secretary of Defense, dated November 19, 1968. Thank you letter “These are difficult times and I am grateful for your support.” Clifford was, Democratic power-broker and political advisor to Presidents Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. He served as Chairman of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board (1963-1968) and Secretary of Defense (1968-1969). Daniels, Josephus – Secretary of the Navy, Signed, typed letter (8 x 10.5) on letterhead of the Secretary of the Navy, dated November 15, 1917. Thank you letter, Daniels was appointed Secretary of the Navy by President Woodrow Wilson and served in that post from 1913 to 1921. Davis, James J. – Signed card (3 x 5). Davis was a Welsh-born American steel worker and Republican politician from Pittsburgh. He served as U.S. Secretary of Labor for three presidents (Harding, Coolidge and Hover) from 1921 to 1930. Denby, Edwin – Signed card (3.25 x 5.25) bearing printed inscription “The Secretary of the Navy, Washington.” Denby served as Secretary of the Navy from 1921 to 1924.Denby played a key role in the infamous Teapot Dome scandal during his tenure as Navy Secretary. It was he who transferred the Elk Hill oil leases to the Interior Department, headed by Albert B. Fall. Fall. Dillon, Douglas – TLS (8.5 x 6.5) on personal stationery, dated September 24, 1968, thank you letter.Dillon served as Under Secretary of State for President Eisenhower (1959- 1961) and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under JFK (1961-1965 Dulles, John Foster – TLS (6 x 9) dated February 8, 1949, letter, declining an invitation to speak. Dulles was a lawyer and leading American statesman during the Cold War Era. He served as U.S. Secretary of State under President Eisenhower (1953-1959) Fowler, Henry H. – Signed, typed letter (7 x 9) on letterhead of the Secretary of the Treasury, dated August 14, 1968, thank you letter. Fowler served as Secretary of the Treasury under President Lyndon Johnson from 1965 to 1968. Gardner, John W. – Signed, typed letter (8.5 x 11) on letterhead of The Urban Coalition, dated September 4, 1968, thank you letter. U.S. Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under President Lyndon Johnson (1965 -1968). Harriman, Averell – Signed b/w photo (4x6). Harriman was prominent Democratic Party politician, businessman and diplomat. U.S. Secretary of Commerce (1946-1948) and Governor of New York (1955-1958). Katzenbach, Nicholas deB. – Signed b/w photo (8x10) and letter October 28, 1968. Katzenbach was an American lawyer who served as U.S. Attorney General under President Lyndon Johnson (1965-1966).
