The writings of Mark Twain Following the Equator a Journey Around The World.1899 Hartford edition.; With Mark Twain autograph on 3”x4” tipped in sheet. The book has on the inside cover James B. Pond’s book plate who was actually Twains Manager and who encouraged him on the very trip which helped him write. This book has a signature of Mark Twain added inside and Pond wrote a letter on the inside blank page about Twain. The letter reads: that Sir Robert Ball the astronomer told me while guest at the observatory in Cambridge England in July of 1901 That Mark Twain had written the best description of the British empire in the English language It is part of this volume , J. B. Pond. Covers are detached and missing the leather on the spine but otherwise a tight copy which can be rebound
