Nice signed program from the General Motors Orchestra 3/21/1937. program in fine condition although does have binder holes in middle margin. Marian Anderson was an African-American contralto and one of the most celebrated singers of the twentieth century. She preferred to perform in concert and recital only, even though she had many offers to perform as an actress. Anderson became an important figure in the struggle for black artists to overcome racial prejudice in the United States during the mid-twentieth century
