On his personal “DDE” letterhead, the former president writes from Walter Reed General Hospital to Dr. and Mrs. J, Holt McCracken, who were close friends of Mamie Eisenhower. Warm, friendly letter, in part “and am pleased to report that my doctors are allowing me to get up and around a couple hours each day. I can assure you that these outs with the medicos offer little pleasure except for the kindness of my friends.” Signed “DDE”. With envelope that bears his printed free frank signature.
