British champion auto racer (1929-1975) and winner of the 1966 Indy 500. Despite his many near escapes on the track, he would die ironically in a plane crash. TLS, one page, 8 x 10, personal letterhead, May 27,1968. Letter to A. C. Spectorsky at Playboy. In full: "Thank you for your letter inviting me to comment on the article by Ken W. Purdy 'Indy-The Golden Brickyard.' I found the article an interesting potted history of the great American motor racing classic, and it surely must go down in history as the most perennially successful sporting promotion, and I would like to wish it every success for the future." Top right bears a pencil notation by Playboy editor Jack Kessie which reads, "Name File. Mike - How many Hill letters have we run? JK" In fine condition, with a couple other pencil notations and an office stamp to top edge.
