This line was formed via the consolidation of the Detroit and State Line Railroad Company and the Junction Railway Company on July 19, 1872. The line eventually became part of the Michigan Central system. With the 1930 lease of the Michigan Central Railroad by the New York Central Railroad, it was placed under NYC operation. The line of road extended from Springwells, MI, to Toledo, OH, a total of 58.92 miles.
At one time, during Michigan Central control, the line’s directors were a who’s who in railroading, including Cornelius Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt's signature does have 3 cancelation holes in it,stock in fine condition.
