Psalter - Latin (Spain). Psalms 76 and 77 of the Biblia Sacra Latina {parts, 77 and 78 of the King James version (parts), from a Latin psalter or breviary. 1 leaf In a Gothic formata minuscule: 22 lines. With enlarged colored initials for each verse, and marginal decoration for the opening of the psalm. Apprx 16.0 x 9.5 cm. (Spain, early 13th century). Here are verses 3 to 21 of Psalm 76 and verses 1 to 5 of Psalm 77 in the Biblia Sacra Latina (Psalm 7~ vv. 3-20 and Psalm 78, vv. 1-5 in the King James version). The former, "I will cry unto God with my voice ... " is a psalm of desolation and fearful hope, recalling to mind the close affiliation among the Biblical books of Writings, of the Psalms with Job: this psalm sets out an extensive reminiscence of the Exodus from Egypt. Psalm 77/78, "Give ear a my people,
to my law hymns "the praises of the Lord, And his strength and his wondrous works that he hath done"
