"This pledge of loyalty and good will is most reassuring because it exemplifies the spirit of unity and is, therefore, a witness to complete victory for the arms of the United Nations.”
LS February 1, 1943 on White House letterhead to Joseph Chiang, Washington Correspondent of the Chinese News Service. He thanks Chiang for his cordial birthday greetings and continues with this interesting sentence: “This pledge of loyalty and good will is most reassuring because it exemplifies the spirit of unity and is, therefore, a witness to complete victory for the arms of the United Nations.” FDR coined the term “United Nations” to describe the Allied countries. It was first used officially in 1942 when the Atlantic Charter was signed. The UN was formed in 1945. With White House mailing envelope.
