Signer of the Declaration of Independence, member of Continental Congress. DS dated 12/7/1782 – a grant of land in Dorchester County signed as Maryland’s 3rd governor. 11 ½ x 16 ¼ with a large paper seal. Fold breaks have been repaired with archival tape. There is some staining, but the document is quite legible and Paca’s signature is magnificent. While governor, Paca invited the Congress to meet in Annapolis, and it was there that George Washington resigned his commission and the Treaty of Paris ending the Revolutionary War was ratified. In his 1995 reference History Comes to Life, Kenneth Rendell places Paca’s autograph material into the “rare” category among the Signers.
