Pair of signed cards featuring notable U.S. military figures. Includes a 2.5" x 3.5" card signed by famed aviator General James H. "Jimmy" Doolittle, inscribed “To Jake: Sincerely J.H. Doolittle” in bold black ink. Signature remains strong and clear, with only light toning to the card. Accompanied by a 3" x 5" lined index card signed at top by Vice Admiral Charles E. Rosendahl, renowned airship commander, with his name written in large, flowing script across the upper margin. Card shows expected age toning and a large “X” mark across the center, not affecting the autograph.
A fine pairing of signatures from two of the most significant figures in 20th-century American aviation and naval history.
Jimmy Doolittle (December 14, 1896 – September 27, 1993) was an American military general and aviation pioneer who received the Medal of Honor for his raid on Japan during World War II, known as the Doolittle Raid in his honor. He made early coast-to-coast flights and record-breaking speed flights, won many flying races, and helped develop and flight-test instrument flying. According to the FAA, he was the first pilot ever to perform a successful instrument flight.
Charles Rosendahl (May 15, 1892 – May 17, 1977) was a highly decorated vice admiral in the United States Navy, and an advocate of lighter-than-air flight.
