(1) W.B. Yeats ALS from Woburn Buildings, Arranging Meeting with Publishers.
W.B. Yeats Autograph Letter Signed from His Famous Woburn Buildings Address, Arranging a Meeting with His Publishers
William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), the towering figure of Irish literature and Nobel laureate, writes a brief but characteristically purposeful note in his distinctive hand. The single-page ALS reads in full: "18 Woburn Buildings / Euston Road / April 16. / Dear Sir: I have written to Messrs. Russell & Son to make an appointment. / Yours / W B Yeats."
Woburn Buildings was Yeats's London base from 1895 to 1919, the address from which he conducted much of his literary and professional life during his most productive decades. The reference to Messrs. Russell & Son places this letter squarely in the world of his publishing arrangements. Brief Yeats letters on the open market are consistently sought; the Woburn Buildings address adds immediate provenance appeal for serious collectors.
