Large mailing envelope, 9.5" x 12.5", boldly free franked in the upper right corner by former President Harry S. Truman, signed “Harry Truman” in place of postage. The envelope is printed “Harry S. Truman, Independence, Mo.” at upper left and addressed from the Harry S. Truman Library in Independence, Missouri, to William J. B. Burger in Pasadena, California.

Free franks are highly desirable presidential autographs, as they represent the official postal privilege granted to U.S. presidents and select high-ranking officials. Truman, the 33rd President of the United States, served from 1945–1953, guiding the nation through the final months of World War II and the early years of the Cold War.

A scarce and appealing presidential free frank, notable for its large format and excellent association with the Truman Library.

Minor handling wear and edge toning, overall well-preserved with a bold signature.

Harry Truman (May 8, 1884 – December 26, 1972) was the 33rd president of the United States, serving from 1945 to 1953. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as a United States senator from Missouri from 1935 to 1945 and briefly as the 34th vice president in 1945 under Franklin D. Roosevelt. Assuming the presidency after Roosevelt's death, Truman implemented the Marshall Plan in the wake of World War II to rebuild the economy of Western Europe and established both the Truman Doctrine and NATO to contain the expansion of Soviet communism.
