4" x 7 1/2" printed photographic portrait of the composer in a seated 3/4 length full profile pose. Image is cropped to edge and mounted on a 4 1/2" x 9 1/8" sheet signed and inscribed at bottom "Seymore Halpern/All Good Wishes, George Gershwin/Sept. 2/1930". Age-toning, adhesive stains, light smudges, and three horizontal creases. American composer and pianist. Gershwin's compositions spanned both popular and classical genres, and his most popular melodies are widely known. Among his best known works are the orchestral compositions Rhapsody in Blue (1924) and An American in Paris (1928), as well as the opera Porgy and Bess (1935).
