City of New York Revenue Bond, 1858. Partially printed bond document completed in manuscript, in the amount of $2,500, dated April 1, 1858, bearing the autograph signature of Daniel F. Tiemann, Mayor of the City of New York. The bond is embossed with the original city seal and printed with ornate borders and engraved vignettes. Volunteer Soldiers’ Family Aid Fund Bond, 1862. Partially printed bond issued by the Corporation of the City of New York, dated July 1, 1862, in the amount of $2,000, created to support families of volunteer soldiers during the Civil War. Signed by George Opdyke, Mayor of New York City, and other municipal officers. The bond features elaborate engraved patriotic imagery, multiple transfer panels on the verso, and retains its large original embossed seal.
Together, the pair forms a visually impressive and historically significant grouping of mid-19th-century New York City municipal bonds, both pre-war civic finance and wartime relief efforts.
Condition: Overall toned and aged as expected. Fold lines and creases from original issuance; scattered light staining, minor edge wear. Text and signatures remain strong and legible throughout.
