Alfredo Casella

Alfredo Casella (1883–1947), Italian pianist, composer, and conductor, signed photograph postcard, 4" x 5.75". Sepia-tone portrait by noted photographer Ghitta Carell of Rome, published by Ballerini & Fratini, Florence. Casella has inscribed warmly in Italian to Miss Josefina Campomoro, adding a bold signature, musical quotation, and dating it “Roma, 22/1937.” A striking signed image of one of Italy’s most influential 20th-century composers, associated with the modernist movement and a leading advocate of Mahler’s music in Italy.
