Impressive large-format color photograph, 20" x 16", depicting an astronaut descending the ladder of the Lunar Module onto the Moon’s surface, boldly inscribed and signed in blue ink: “To Al Petroselli with high regard and sincere best wishes Jack Swigert, Apollo 13.” Swigert, Command Module Pilot of the dramatic Apollo 13 mission, joined the crew just days before launch and became one of the central figures in the “successful failure” that safely returned the astronauts to Earth after an on-board explosion. His autograph is among the most sought-after of all Apollo astronauts, as he later passed away in 1982 before taking his seat in Congress. A striking and scarce in this size signed display piece honoring one of NASA’s most courageous missions, with strong association to the Apollo era’s heroic legacy. Some light fold marks where it was once folded, otherwise very good condition with bold signature.
