2006 Miami Heat NBA Championship Staff Ring With Original Display Box. The Miami Heat has had some formidable basketball teams since the franchise was formed in 1988. But for one reason or another each season ended in heartache. A number of those imposing squads fell to the New York Knicks as the teams formed a fierce rivalry. Images of Knicks' then assistant Jeff Van Gundy holding on to Alonzo Mourning's leg for dear life during a melee was a symbol of the hatred shared by the two teams. The 2006 season had a different feel as old school met new age. Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning combined to provide an inside presence which proved a perfect addition to Dwyane Wade's slashing style of play.
Everything fell into place as the Heat dispatched the Dallas Mavericks in six thrilling games. Wade cemented his NBA legacy with a 42-point performance in Game Three as Miami erased a thirteen point deficit to get out of a two game hole.
Presented to the team's travelling secretary was this "[size] 8" ring. Featuring a genuine diamond at the top of an embossed Larry O'Brien Trophy, the other stones are shimmering CZs. One shank features "Miami Heat," team logo, NBA logo and "Family" while the opposite side has "Gerson" and "15 Strong Faith 2006." "It Was Our Time 6-20-06" is visible on the inner half as is "Jostens 10K" (55 grams). The cherry on top of the cake is the original wood display box issued to ring's possessor. Style and substance, nothing is left for the imagination with this piece of Heat and NBA history.
