Football has been hand-signed in white felt-tip pen by many members of the 1953 Notre Dame Fighting Irish team during the 55th reunion in 2008, including John Lattner (who won the Heisman that season). Ball is in fine condition and a great display piece for a fan of Notre Dame Football.
The 1953 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team represented the University of Notre Dame during the 1953 college football season. John Lattner won the Heisman Trophy although he did not even lead the Irish in passing, rushing, receiving, or scoring. Lattner held the Notre Dame record for all-purpose yards until Vagas Ferguson broke it in 1979. It was also coach Frank Leahy's final season. The team had a 9-0-1 record and finished #2 in the AP and Coaches rankings.
