Vintage portrait photograph of famed Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, boldly signed, “Roald Amundsen” across the upper portion. The image, measuring approximately 4.75 x 6.75 inches, is mounted above an original press caption describing Amundsen’s “Dash to the North Pole,” noting his departure from Nome, Alaska, to resume his Arctic expedition and recalling his historic discovery of the South Pole. Handsomely presented in a matted green display, framed to an overall size of 13 x 18 inches. Fine condition overall, with light toning and edge wear to the caption slip and a small chip to the upper photo border.

Roald Amundsen (16 July 1872 – c. 18 June 1928) was a Norwegian explorer of polar regions. He was a key figure of the period known as the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. The explorer who first reached both the South Pole (1911) and later the North Pole (1926)
