An original Joseph Cosey forgery of an Oliver Cromwell document, 9.25 x 9, dated November 6, 1657, and bearing a forged “Oliver P.” signature. Exhibits intersecting folds (including a vertical fold through the signature area), light foxing and toning, and small portions of loss along the upper right corner and lower edge. Although Cosey is chiefly remembered for his forgeries of early American figures and texts, this piece shows that he extended his mischief to the realm of Cromwelliana as well.
