Maurice Maeterlinck signed vintage portrait photograph. Matte-finish image affixed to original mount, signed neatly in ink beneath the image, “M. Maeterlinck.” A classic formal portrait of the Nobel Prize–winning playwright and poet. Overall dimensions 9.75 x 12.25 inches. Light, even age toning and minor surface wear consistent with period presentation.

Maurice Maeterlinck (29 August 1862 – 6 May 1949), was a Belgian playwright, poet, and essayist who was Flemish but wrote in French. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1911. The main themes in his work are death and the meaning of life. He was a leading member of the group La Jeune Belgique, and his plays form an important part of the Symbolist movement.
