Robert Burns. Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect from the library of Charles Dickens, with his bookplate and Gadshill Place June 1870 label on the front pastedowns. Vol. I. Edinburgh: Printed for T. Cadell jun. and W. Davies, London; and William Creech, Edinburgh, [1797]. "A New Edition, Considerably Enlarged." 

It is bound in contemporary calf; gilt fillet decoration, gilt and blind ruling at board margins; spine stamped in gilt with five raised bands; red and black morocco spine labels. Marbled endpapers; all edges trimmed and stained yellow. Edge wear, mild scuffing and surface scratches to the calf. Wear to hinges. The spine darkened with spots of soiling at spine labels; some rubbing at corners, head, and foot of backstrip. Mild wear to endpapers; splitting starting at inner front hinge. Pages softly toned with occasional mild foxing and offsetting. Has a very fine portrait frontispiece although it coming detached from the bottom; mild foxing to the first few leaves of text block; inked manuscript marginalia on pp. 2-3. Minor shelf wear at extremities of chemise and slipcase.
