Document Signed (" Yo El Rey"), addressed to the Captain General of Majorca, 1 page folio with address and paper seal on the verso, Madrid, 31 Jan. 1573. An interesting attempt to compel colonial officials to attend to their duties more seriously:
Translation.: " Since it is not fitting that those who hold offices such as governors, members of the royal council, royal procurator and financial chancellor should fail in their offices on account of absence, and since it is possible that they may wish to come to our Court on some business, and since it is not fitting that they should do so without express permission, we desire you to inform them that if they do this outside given authority, they will neither be seen nor heard by us nor will the salary of deputy officers be paid to them during their absence, and for a second offence they will be deprived of their offices without Fail
