An album depicting the fighters (survivors and deceased) who came to Cuba on the Granma boat in what would become known as one of the principal moments of the Cuban revolution. The book features photos of Cuban revolutionaries such as Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Raul Castro, Juan Almeida, and Camilo Cienfuegos. The album also gives details on the expedition aboard the Granma such as the travel time and length of the yacht. The book was created to honor the deceased whom the Castro-led government later treated as martyrs of the revolution. The outside cover has wear along with toning that can be seen throughout the album.

Granma is a yacht that was used to transport 82 fighters of the Cuban Revolution from Mexico to Cuba in November 1956 to overthrow the regime of Fulgencio Batista. The 60-foot (18 m) diesel-powered vessel was built in 1943 by Wheeler Shipbuilding of Brooklyn, New York, as a light armored target practice boat, US Navy C-1994, and modified postwar to accommodate 12 people. "Granma", in English, is an affectionate term for a grandmother; the yacht is said to have been named for the previous owner's grandmother.
