A lot of four-signed photos of Holywood Leading Ladies.
9" × 13.5" Vintage matte-finish photo Gertrude Lawrence, signed and inscribed in fountain pen. In good condition, with trimming as noted, a few faint stains at the left edge, chip to lower right corner, slightly indistinct contrast of signature against the background, and a hint of subtle silvering to dark portions. Many of the faults can be minimized with proper matting and framing.
11" x 14" Vintage sepia matte finish photograph signed and inscribed by Viola Dana in ballpoint ink nicely. Also signed Bull in the bottom right corner. This is possibly by the photographer Clarence Sinclair Bull in crayon signing it; "Bull." In fine condition with a few light creases.
10.5" x 13.5" Vintage sepia matte finish photograph of Grace Moore signed and inscribed in fountain pen ink nicely by her. The back of the photo is stamped "Please credit A.L. Shafer Columbia Pictures". In fine condition with some light corner wear.
11" x 14" Carmel Myers signed and inscribed photo. Shot by the famous photographer Clarence Sinclair Bull. The back of the photo is stamped "Photographed by Clarence S. Bull credit appreciated". Some tearing along the corners but in otherwise fine condition.
Gertrude Lawrence (4 July 1898 – 6 September 1952) was an English actress, singer, dancer, and musical comedy performer known for her stage appearances in the West End of London and on Broadway in New York.
Viola Dana (born Virginia Flugrath; June 26, 1897 – July 3, 1987) was an American film actress who was successful during the era of silent films. She appeared in over 100 films but was unable to make the transition to sound films
Grace Moore (December 5, 1898 – January 26, 1947) was an American operatic soprano and actress in musical theatre and film. She was nicknamed the "Tennessee Nightingale." Her films helped to popularize opera by bringing it to a larger audience. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in One Night of Love. In 1947, Moore died in a plane crash at the age of 48.
Carmel Myers (April 9, 1899 – November 9, 1980) was an American actress who achieved her greatest successes in silent film.
