GRANT, JULIA D. First Lady. ALS on black edged mourning stationery dated October 31 ’97 to Mrs. Harrison. 2 ½ pages. Very nice personal letter regretting having been out of town when Mrs. Harrison passed through and urging her to visit. Bold ink. Was this perhaps to Benjamin Harrison’s widow? This lot also includes Mrs. Grant’s black-bordered card with her address and “Tuesdays in January.” In the corner is the handwritten date “Mar. 15, 1901”.
