Louise Brooks TLS , GREAT CONTENT!

Typed Letter on one side, Signed by Louise Brooks(Louise) to John Hampton with Louise Brooks, 7 North Goodman Street, Rochester, NY 14607 address and June 26, 1967 date at the top. During the mid-1960's Silent Movie Star Louise Brooks had a corresponding relationship with John Hampton, collector of movie memorabilia and owner of The Silent Movie Theater on Fairfax in Hollywood, California where they traded stills and negatives from Louise Brooks films. "This is the same Silent Movie Theater where John Hampton's close friend and heir to the theater, Laurence Austin, was gunned down and murdered in 1997. The previous owner had acquired the letter directly from Laurence Austin, circa the late 1980's/early 1990s.

When I returned from Berlin to New York in December, the Paramount office ordered me to go to Hollywood to make the talkie re-make of CANARY. " said no. They offered me $5000 a week, I said go to hell, and they had to use Margaret Livingston's Brooklyn accent and her profile in some scenes in the talkie version directed by Frank Tuttle because they had also let Mal St Clair, the director of the silent version go, The expense of Schulberg's bad timing excited him to send out the publicity that 'Louise Brooks' Voice did not record in talking Pictures." What is odd in this malice is that in 1929 when CANARY was released only 100 theatres were wired for sound and CANARY was released most everywhere as a silent. Yes. I was in the Canary in both versions."

Page was folded at one time(very difficult to see) but has been stored flat for the past 50 years and exhibits some toning. There are handwritten notations by John Hampton. There are no tears, no chips, and no tape.
