An original land grant document signed by President John Quincy Adams, dated May 10, 1826, conferring ownership of public land in the Michigan Territory under provisions of the Act of Congress of April 24, 1820. The document measures 9.5 by 15 inches and features the large embossed seal of the United States at lower left, with Adams’s bold signature at the bottom right.

Executed during Adams’s presidency, the grant was issued to an early settler and attests to the westward expansion of the young nation. The document is printed and completed in a clear hand, with elegant engravings and formal language characteristic of early 19th-century federal land patents.

The piece is beautifully matted and framed alongside an engraving of John Quincy Adams, with the overall frame measuring approximately 15 by 26.5 inches.

During his long diplomatic and political career, Adams served as an ambassador and also as a member of the United States Congress representing Massachusetts in both chambers.
