Oscar-nominated actor (1913-1952) who appeared in such classics as The Postman Always Rings Twice and Gentleman's Agreement. Blacklisted in Hollywood for his liberal beliefs amid the second Red Scare, the 39-year-old Garfield died of heart failure just two months after returning to the stage in a revival of Golden Boy. A vintage glossy 8" x 10" studio portrait of Garfield, signed in fountain pen. In fine condition, with scattered light creasing, and smudging to the signature on the portrait.
