Profiles in Courage — Cardinal Edition, signed softcover book by John F. Kennedy. Pocket Books, Inc., New York. Cardinal Edition, 8th printing, January 1960. Measures approximately 4.25" x 6.5".
Signed and inscribed on the inside cover in green ballpoint pen, “To Tom, Best Regards,” followed by John F. Kennedy’s signature. This is the complete Cardinal paperback edition, issued shortly before Kennedy’s election to the presidency. The interior includes a single period newspaper clipping affixed, which helps establish when the book was signed.
Good overall. The cover shows moderate edge wear, creasing, and spine wear, consistent with age and handling. Interior pages exhibit expected toning. The signed page is slightly detached, although the signature and inscription are clearly legible and visually strong.
John F. Kennedy (May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963), was an American politician who served as the 35th president of the United States from 1961 until his assassination in 1963. He was the youngest person elected president. Kennedy served at the height of the Cold War, and the majority of his foreign policy concerned relations with the Soviet Union and Cuba. A Democrat, Kennedy represented Massachusetts in both houses of the U.S. Congress prior to his presidency.
