A compact and appealing group of signed material relating to three iconic figures of American aviation and military history: James H. Doolittle, Gregory "Pappy" Boyington, and Chuck Yeager.

Included is a black-and-white portrait photograph of Jimmy Doolittle in U.S. Army Air Forces uniform, measuring 8" x 9.75", inscribed and signed in ink to William E. Overall, with a courteous personal sentiment. Also present is a check signed by Gregory “Pappy” Boyington, dated April 28, 1980, measuring 2.75" x 6", completed and endorsed, with period bank stamps and cancellations visible on both sides. The group is completed by an autograph of Chuck Yeager, measuring 5" x 2.25", affixed to a display sheet with a photo.

Jimmy Doolittle (December 14, 1896 – September 27, 1993) was an American military general and aviation pioneer who received the Medal of Honor for his raid on Japan during World War II, known as the Doolittle Raid in his honor. He made early coast-to-coast flights and record-breaking speed flights, won many flying races, and helped develop and flight-test instrument flying. According to the FAA, he was the first pilot ever to perform a successful instrument flight.

Gregory "Pappy" Boyington (December 4, 1912 – January 11, 1988) was an American combat pilot who was a United States Marine Corps fighter ace during World War II. He received the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross. A Marine aviator with the Pacific fleet in 1941, Boyington joined the "Flying Tigers" (1st American Volunteer Group) of the Republic of China Air Force and saw combat in Burma in late 1941 and 1942 during the Second Sino-Japanese War.

Chuck Yeager (February 13, 1923 – December 7, 2020) was a United States Air Force officer, flying ace, and record-setting test pilot who in October 1947 became the first pilot in history confirmed to have exceeded the speed of sound in level flight.
