Parchment document signed by two presidents. (Monroe signed as Secretary of War.) The document dated February 1, 1815, appoints Alexander Brownlow a Captain in the second regiment of Infantry. There is considerable staining, and Madison’s signature is badly faded. Otherwise an uncommon document.
