Desirable partly-printed vellum land grant signed by James Madison as President, 1p, approximately 13" x 15.5", Washington, September 1, 1814. The document grants 100 acres of Virginia Military Bounty Land in Ohio to the heirs of William Gregory, “a Lieutenant for the War,” in consideration of his military service on the Continental Establishment. Boldly countersigned by Edward Tiffin as Commissioner of the General Land Office.

The land is described in detail as situated between the Little Miami and Scioto Rivers, and the grant bears the white embossed paper seal of the United States. Light folds and toning with strong, clear text and signatures.

Elegantly presented in a green and gold archival matting alongside printed portraits of both Madison and Tiffin, with an engraved plaque identifying the document’s historic significance. Framed to an overall size of 22.5" x 29".

James Madison (March 16, 1751 – June 28, 1836) was an American statesman, diplomat, and Founding Father who served as the fourth president of the United States from 1809 to 1817. Madison was popularly acclaimed as the "Father of the Constitution" for his pivotal role in drafting and promoting the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights.
